Valentin Jordanov
Valentin Jordanov started his wrestling career in his native village at the age of 10. Georgi Achev was his his trainer from 1970 till 1978, introduced him to the delicate technique of wrestling. Jordanov did his military service at the CSKA sport school club where Jordanov trained from 1978 till 1980, under the guidance of Yancho Patrikov. Valentin Jordanov continued to serve at re-engagement, at the CSKA club, till 1990. In 1990 Jordanov went to the USA but he continued competing for Bulgaria, on behalf of the wrestling club "Slavia-Litex" untill 1996.
Valentin Jordanov has seven World championship and seven European titles. Jordanov is also a silver and bronze medal winner at different European, World and Olympic championships. Throughout his 18 years long career in the 52 kg category Valentin Jordanov won 673 out of 685 fights. Jordanov retired at the age of 36 after winning an Olympic Champion title at the Olympic Games in Atlanta '96.Since 1997 Valentin Jordanov is a member of the Athletes' Commission of FILA. In 1998 Jordanov is elected President of the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation and in 2002 he is re-elected. In the year 2000 Jordanov became a member of the Bureau of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. Jordanov is married an has two children.
