Martin Petrov
Martin Petrov is part of the so called “new wave” in the Bulgarian football. Petrov was born on January 15 1979 in Vraca. Petrov plays as a midfielder. Martin Petrov begins his career in FC Botev (Vraca) where at the age of only 16 years he plays for the club’s first team. Soon Petrov is noticed by the football specialist and in 1997 he signs with CSKA managed at that time by Dimitar Penev.
In 1999 Petrov signs with Servet (Geneva) and becomes champion of Switzerland in1999 and the country’s Cup holder in 2001. In 2001 Martin Petrov was bought by Wolfsburg. Petrov was chosen for the team’s number one footballer for season 2004/2005 in a poll by fans of the team. Also Martin Petrov was the team’s top scorer for the same season with 12 goals (equal with the team’s central attacker Thomas Bardarich). Four of Petrov’s goals are from penalty kicks. Currently Martin Petrov is playing for Atletico Madrid.
