F.C. CSKA

FC CSKA was founded on 5th of May 1948. On that date an agreement was signed between the Bulgarian football players of "Septemvri" and the team of "Chavdar" for uniting by the name "Septemvri pri CDV" (Central Army House). The board of the newly created club included: honorable chairman - general leutenent Georgi Damjanov, the minister of defense, chairman - general major Bojan Balgaranov; deputy chairman - colonel Tashev, Petar Mihajlov, Alexander Valchev and Ljubcho Kralev. 5 more members were included in the Board. The contract was signed on the 5th of May and that is considered to be the birthday of the club. From that moment on, there is only one single thought in the heads of the Bulgarian club managers and the fans - VICTORY.

CSKA becomes champion of Bulgaria in the year it was founded. For only 51 years this club won 28 times the championship of Bulgaria and 22 times the National cup of its country. No other football club in Bulgaria has achieved so great a success for such a short peroid of time.
Through the years FC CSKA obtains plenty of names: 1949 - renamed in NV Sofia; 1950 - renamed in NA Sofia; 1951 - renamed in CDNA Sofia; 1953 - renamed in Sojiski Garnizon Sofia; 1953 - renamed in CDNA Sofia; 1964 - joined with DSO Cerveno Zname Sofia to CSKA Cerveno Zname Sofia; 1968 - joined with FD Septemvri CDV Sofia to CSKA Septemvrijsko Zname Sofia; 1985 - closed down;1985 - refounded as FC Sredez Sofia; 1987 - renamed in CFKA Sredez Sofia;1989 - renamed in CFKA Sofia; 1990 - renamed in FC CSKA Sofia.
FC CSKA Sofia is the most successful Bulgarian team in the European tournaments and has spectacular wins over European football grands like FC Ajax (Holland), FC Liverpool (England), FC Nothengam Forest (England), etc.
